What each option actually does

Written out in full, because "manage preferences" usually means "we hope you get bored".

What stops	Every marketing email: roundups, new articles, offers, product notes.	Everything except the schedule you pick. Nothing else reaches you.
What keeps coming	Only emails about a site we actually run for you: invoices, revision replies, outage notices. Those are service, not marketing.	Service emails as normal, plus the one schedule you chose.
How long it takes	Saved the moment you press save. An email already on its way may still arrive, and nothing after it.	Saved the moment you press save, and the old schedule stops immediately.
Coming back	Sign up again from any page on the site, or email us. We never re-add an address on our own.	Change it again here any time. There is no limit and no cooling-off period.

What happens after you send it

Your choice is saved straight away
Pressing save records it against your address in our system, and the page confirms it there and then. There is no email to send and nothing to reply to.
The change takes effect now
An email that was already on its way may still land. Nothing sent after you save does.
Your address stays on a suppression list
Only so that nothing can add you back by accident. It is never used to contact you, and the privacy policy says exactly what is held and for how long.

Anything else about your data, including how to ask for a copy of it or have it deleted, is in the privacy policy and the cookie policy.
